Mojokerto, May 2024 - PT Ajinomoto Indonesia (Ajinomoto) & Rekosistem (PT Khazanah Hijau Indonesia) officially signed a strategic collaboration with the Mojokerto City Government on April 22, 2024, to improve waste management, especially at the Magersari Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST). Apart from Ajinomoto, several Japanese consortium companies under the auspices of the Japan Clean Ocean Material Alliance (CLOMA) are also involved in this collaboration.
According to Acting Mayor of Mojokerto, Mohammad Ali Kuncoro, based on data from the Ministry of Environment's National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN) in 2022, East Java Province is ranked 2nd in Indonesia as the largest waste producer with total waste production reach ± 5 million tons. The city of Mojokerto itself produces 82 tons of waste per day, and in 2022 Magersari District become the largest waste contributor in Mojokerto City.
This shows the need for concrete steps in managing waste at the local level. Through collaboration between the private sector, Rekosistem, and Government Institutions, it is hoped that this will be a big step in the journey towards more effective and environmentally friendly waste management at the City of Mojokerto.
In line with one of Ajinomoto Indonesia Group visions, to reduce the environmental impact of the company's business activities, we want to contribute to taking concrete action, one of which is collaborating with Rekosistem and the Mojokerto City Government, to improve waste management in the area. The hope is that the Magersari TPST can achieve a higher level of waste recycling and make a positive contribution to the environment and economic growth.
Through the help of Rekosistem which has a digital-based application, several technologies such as special sensors and Integrated Machine Learning will be implemented at the Magersari TPST to collect data, increase recycling, report more comprehensive data, and carry out real-time monitoring, in order to improve analysis and optimizing the system for waste management.
The collaboration between Ajinomoto, consortium company under the auspices of the Japan Clean Ocean Material Alliance (CLOMA), Rekosistem, and the Mojokerto City Government, is a clear example of how synergy between cross sectors is the main key in achieving Indonesia's Net Zero Emission target through reducing carbon emissions with waste management, and circular economy based.
