TOKYO, Januari 25, 2022 – Ajinomoto Co., Inc. (“Ajinomoto Co.”) signed an agreement as the official main sponsor of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (“SEA Games”) which will be held in Vietnam on May 2022.
The SEA Games, which are held every two years, can help forge strong regional cooperation, understanding and unity among countries in Southeast Asia. The SEA Games is the largest sport event in Southeast Asia, attracting more than 600 million people in the region. For this year's event in Vietnam, Ajinomoto Co. participate as main sponsor which is the sponsorship category with the highest ranking, as in the previous event.
Since 2003, Ajinomoto Co. works through the Victory Project® which supports conditioning top-level athletes in Japan and carries out nutritional support activities that harness the power of amino acids, including providing Ajinomoto Group products such as aminoVITAL® and promoting Winning Meals Kachimeshi®.
Utilizing this knowledge, since 2018 Ajinomoto six Group affiliates in the ASEAN region have pursed the ASEAN Victory Project® through sports associations, athletes and sports schools in their respective countries. Ajinomoto Co. will use this official SEA Games sponsorship as an opportunity to provide further support through the ASEAN Victory Project® for its affiliates in Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA as one of its affiliate in the ASEAN region, also carries out a program that is in line with the Victory Project® through the "Winning Meals Kachimeshi" which is a nutrition-based program to improve the performance of national swimming athlete I Gede Siman Sudartawa. Ajinomoto Indonesia is committed to sharing experiences that food is one of the important keys to realizing a healthy lifestyle through its website : www.dapurumami.com/kachimeshi . Kachimeshi, which means “Winning Meal” or “Champion Food”, is actually a program that supports athletes and sports enthusiasts with delicious and nutritionally balanced meals to achieve maximum body performance.
In the program that started on April 24, 2018, athletes are assisted to meet their nutritional needs through planning a nutritious menu, providing controlled nutritional guidance according to their daily needs and periodic anthropometric tests to determine the composition or body structure of athletes. All these activities are carried out from training to competitions, in order to achieve the highest level of fitness.
At the previous SEA Games in the Philippines, I Gede Siman Sudartawa managed to achieve a sweet record and managed to get a gold medal in the men's 50-meter backstroke category by recording a time of 25.12 seconds, a silver medal in the men's relay category, and a bronze medal in the 100-meter style category male backstroke.
Ajinomoto Co. has established business bases in Vietnam, the host country of the SEA Games, as well as in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and other places, and has been running the consumer food business in these countries for many years, so as to maintain a close relationship with the local food culture.
