Jakarta, October 8th, 2021 – In producing Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA implement Bio Cycle process. Means that the main raw material for MSG production, which use molasses, and goes through a fermentation process. From that production process the by-product AJIFOL (Ajinomoto Foliar Fertilizer) is produced. AJIFOL contains complete macro and micro nutrients to support plant growth and development from the beginning of planting to harvest, and with high quality amino acids in it, AJIFOL is also be able to increase plant resistance to disease, thereby reducing the use of pesticides and more friendly for the environment.
As one of the effective and efficient ways for water consumption, human resources, and save costs to support sustainable agricultural cultivation, the Department of Agriculture Development (Agri Dev) PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA, which operates in the Mojokerto Factory, East Java, recently carried out an innovation of spraying AJIFOL by using drone technology.
Yudho Koesbandryo, Factory Manager and Director of PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA explained, "In line with the company's Ajinomoto Share Value (ASV), PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA has started processing by-products which in the process refers to Eco Activity and Bio Cycle, that can be processed into product with economic value (Co Product), one of it is AJIFOL fertilizer which has been equipped with a distribution & marketing permit from the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture. By utilizing existing technology, we have started to help several communities of rice, corn, and sugarcane farmers in the East Java area, for example Mojokerto, Madiun and Malang by introducing AJIFOL as a company Co Product that can help maintain plant growth in order to produce good quality harvests, as well as providing AJIFOL application services using drones.”
Currently, AJIFOL has two variants, AJIFOL D for plant vegetative growth (roots, stems, leaves) and AJIFOL B for plant generative growth (flowers and fruit). Its use is quite easy, by adding water first according to the dose, AJIFOL can be directly sprayed onto the plant parts. Not only has a quality content, the price of AJIFOL liquid fertilizer is also very affordable - AJIFOL D is around Rp. 70.000,00 - Rp. 75,000.00/liter and AJIFOL B around Rp. 80.000,00 - Rp. 85,000.00/liter.
Since its inception, the AJIFOL application is still done manually so that it becomes inefficient: it takes a long time, is wasteful in water use, costs money for the workforce. In this regard, PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA invites farmers to apply new methods to support sustainable agricultural cultivation by utilizing drone technology.
PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA believes that the use of drone technology will have a positive environmental impact and can save costs while supporting sustainable agricultural cultivation in Indonesia. “For example based on our trials in September, for rice, corn and sugarcane, from the farmers received a pretty good response. The application of drone technology is very efficient and only takes about 15 minutes per hectare with the amount of water ranging from 16 liters per hectare, whereas if applied manually, it takes about half a day to 1 day with the amount of water around 200 liters per hectare. We plan to propose an application fee using drone technology of around Rp. 100,000, - per hectare, whereas if the manual application is around Rp. 150.000,- per hectare. For some crops, such as corn and sugar cane, manual application will be difficult when the plants are already high, about 1.5 meters and above, while using drone technology, these obstacles can certainly be overcome," concluded Yudho.
