Jakarta, May 2025 – In the midst of dynamics of the FMCG industry that continues to grow, commitment to halal principles is no longer just compliance, but has become part of a business sustainability strategy. The commitment to maintaining the halalness of products has been proven by PT Ajinomoto Indonesia for the highest category award (Platinum) in the UB Halal Metric Award 2025 ranking event held by Brawijaya University. PT Ajinomoto Indonesia won the highest category (Platinum) for all aspects of assessment from 34 institutions in the industrial sector that were assessed.
The UB Halal Metric Award 2025 is a global ranking system launched in early 2024 and inaugurated by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia at that time, Mr. KH. Ma'ruf Amin. This ranking assesses institutions from the education, government, and industry sectors, based on several indicators in the overall assessment including Policy, Education, Research & Community Service, Infrastructure, and Ecosystem & Halal Perspective.
Mr. Hermawan Prajudi, Director and Coordinator of Internal Halal Auditor (AHI) of PT Ajinomoto Indonesia, received the UB Halal Metric 2025 award directly on Monday, April 21, 2025, which was presented by the Minister of Research and Technology represented by Dr. Berry Juliandi M.SI as Acting Director of Learning and Student Affairs of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, along with Vice Chancellor I of Brawijaya University, Prof. Imam Santoso, MP.
“For PT Ajinomoto Indonesia, halal is not just compliance, but part of a business strategy. We understand that in a country with a Muslim majority population like Indonesia, halal is very important. Therefore, we implement a comprehensive Halal Assurance System, starting from the product development process, purchasing raw materials, quality control, production, storage, to product distribution,” said Mr. Hermawan Prajudi.
“It doesn’t stop there, we at PT Ajinomoto Indonesia also ensure that halal values are ingrained in the heart of the organization. Routine internal audits, ongoing training, and management evaluations are part of the company’s work culture. On the communication side, halal issues are also actively raised in various channels, including the official website, social media, and public relations activities. For this UB Halal Metric 2025 ranking award, we would like to thank the Universitas Brawijaya team who conducted the assessment. This award is not only a symbol of achievement, but also a reminder of long-term responsibility. As a company that has been present in Indonesia for more than 55 years, Ajinomoto continues to emphasize its contribution to public health and welfare through science-based innovation, especially amino acid science (Amino Science). Through its global slogan ‘Eat Well, Live Well’, Ajinomoto is building a future that is not only delicious and healthy, but also ethical and sustainable, in this case including the halal aspect. This also motivates us to continue to meet the public's expectations for safe and halal products, two things that are always our top priorities," he continued.
The assessment of PT Ajinomoto Indonesia in UB Halal Metric 2025 was carried out independently through a hybrid opt-in model method, namely 'reporting' and 'non-reporting'. For the 'reporting' model, PT Ajinomoto Indonesia has independently filled in the necessary supporting data into the UB Halal Metric application. The data is then validated and processed systematically to produce institutional rankings and assessments. For the 'non-reporting' model, all data is taken from public sources, then validated and processed systematically by the UB Halal Metric team, Universitas Brawijaya.
In addition to PT Ajinomoto Indonesia, there are 33 other companies in various industrial sectors that were assessed by the assessor team in the UB Halal Metric Award 2025, such as PT Aerofood ACS, PT Garuda Indonesia, PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, PT Telkom Indonesia, and others.
